Lawsuit Action Against Ford Fuel Pumps Failing

Bosch fuel pumps allegedly caused Ford Power Stroke diesel engines to fail, leaving owners in despair and filing a class action lawsuit.

After numerous recalls and issues with Ford’s big trucks, the latest claim involves a design flaw in the Bosch-made pump and the formula of US diesel, causing one owner over $12,000 in repairs.

History of the Fuel Pump Defect

The Bosch CP4 fuel pump fitted in 2011-present 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel engines amongst Ford trucks contain metal parts that rub against each other. This rubbing causes friction and shaves off metal filings that feed through the fuel systems causing havoc.

The cause of the friction is apparently due to the US diesel used in these engines. The construction of US diesel means that it has no lubrication properties. Unlike diesel manufactured for other regions, US diesel causes the breakdown of the fuel pump internals.
Why the fuel pump lawsuit was filed.

David Clark, the owner of a 2020 F-350 claimed his 6.7L Power Stroke unit failed and entered limp mode after only 23,000 miles and within the first year of ownership. The unit then stalled and failed to start. This resulted in David taking his truck to a Ford dealership, where the failing fuel pump was detected.

Ford allegedly mistakenly denied David coverage of this under warranty which meant he was $12,838 out of pocket. Along with the towing costs, David was losing income every hour the vehicle was off the road.

Do you Have a Faulty Vehicle? Take Back Control

There could be many Ford owners facing the same issue with their Bosch fuel pump. Many owners like David continue to be unhappy with the solutions provided by automakers. These problems have the potential to escalate into further legal action, underlining the importance of protecting consumer rights.
