Ford Recalls Over 72,000 Vehicles Due to Rearview Camera Issues

Ford Motor Company has issued a recall for more than 72,000 vehicles due to rearview camera malfunctions, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The recall affects a range of models, including Expedition, Super Duty trucks, and Lincoln Corsair SUVs.

What’s Causing the Recall?

The recall centers on an issue where the rearview camera may display a blank or distorted image, which can hinder visibility and increase the risk of an accident. A properly functioning backup camera is a federally required safety feature, and a malfunctioning system may prevent drivers from spotting obstacles, pedestrians, or other vehicles while reversing.

Which Ford Vehicles Are Affected?

The recall applies to the following models:

  • 2021 Ford Expedition
  • 2021-2022 Ford Super Duty trucks (F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, F-600)
  • 2020-2022 Lincoln Corsair

Ford has not yet finalized a solution for the issue, but a fix is currently under development.

What Ford Owners Should Do Next

Ford will begin notifying affected owners via mail beginning February 17, 2025. While the specific fix has not yet been determined, owners are encouraged to contact Ford’s customer service at 1-866-436-7332 for further updates. Ford’s internal recall reference number for this issue is 25S05.

Until a solution is available, owners should take extra precautions when reversing and manually check their surroundings before relying on their camera system.

How Ford Owners Can Take Back Control

While recalls have been communicated to owners, many continue to be unhappy with the solutions provided by automakers. These problems have the potential to escalate into further action, just like this, underlining the importance of protecting consumer rights.
